As most of you know by now, our Professional Gavin is now thankfully in recovery following his successful back surgery and we have two new faces to help out in his absence. Geoff Evans and Catalina Mackelfresh have started work in the Pro Shop and are available for Coaching right now. We are planning some comprehensive coaching programs for all golfers over the summer.

Introducing Catalina Mackelfresh

 

Catalina has been an active member of the LPGA Teaching Professionals for over 20 years, bringing knowledge from working with many of America’s top golf in-

structors Mike and Sandy LaBauve, as well as Jim Hardy and the Harmon

brothers. She served as the Head Instructor at Kierland Golf Club in

Scottsdale, AZ and as the Director of Instruction at Medinah Country Club in Chicago. Catalina has specialized in building and growing youth golf programs for the last 10 years with great success.

Catalina grew up in Colombia, South America and successfully competed in many international tournaments as part of the Colombian National team. She was also a member of the golf team for four years at Brigham Young University in Utah and placed in a number of professional tourna- ments after her college years.

Catalina moved to Ireland in 2020 with her husband, two daughters and Pepper their dog.

Introducing Geoff Evans

 Geoff has been a golf coach to all levels from Juniors to Tour players for

the last 24 years. He has worked in Ireland,Germany,Australia, Mallor-

ca,Barcelona,Kazakstan and Abu Dhabi. During this time he has continued

to upskill and attended golf clinics hosted by David Leadbetter, Greg Nor-

man, Christy O’Connor Senior, Sergio Garcia, David Pelz and Karl Morris.

During his time in Spain he worked at the Girona Golf club as their Head

Professional. For six years he was resident at PGA de Cataluña as teaching

pro with the Sergio Garcia golf academy , specialising with Gears and

Trackman. He also was Head of Junior golf Development with the Spanish

Golf Federation for the Girona region working with juniors and people with various disabili- ties. Most recently Geoff worked as a golf consultant in Kazakstan and was in charge of Junior golf development at Astana and Nurtau golf clubs.

He is a native of Greystones and learnt his trade caddying in Delgany and Greystones Golf Clubs when he was young.
