Winter Relief – Ball Lost in Leaves or Plugged

WINTER RELIEF – BALL LOST IN LEAVES AND/OR PLUGGED BALLS
(FAIRWAY & ROUGH ONLY)

Our competitions committee is introducing a local rule to apply during the current unusually soft and leafy conditions with immediate effect. The rule will remain in place until further notice.

If a player’s ball is virtually certain to be lost in an accumulation of leaves or plugged in the general area (fairway and rough) but not bushes/trees etc. – free relief will be allowed using the following:

• Locate the approximate Reference Point where the ball first went into the leaves or where it plugged. N.B. All players in the group must be in agreement as to the Reference Point in order to proceed on this basis.

• Drop/Place another ball within one club length not nearer the hole than the Reference point and play on as normal (NO PENALTY).

Write “LB“( Lost Ball )on your card beside any score where such relief was taken . This will help us monitor how often the rule is invoked.
