The Mating Season is set in the 70’s somewhere in Dublin. Sidney Gillespie is a widower who decides he wants to get married again and has Mrs Morley in his sights. She has a chain of shops and he has a factory that could supply them so on the face of it a match made in heaven. However she is not prepared to move into a house with two sons, an uncle and a housekeeper. It is further complicated in that the housekeeper Mrs J is not in favour of the marriage as she wants him for herself and is prepared to put whatever obstacles she can in their way to make sure the marriage does not go ahead.
